Freedom means different things to different people.

As the election cycle draws to a close I’m reminded of the many reasons I’ve been a Libertarian activist for the last thirty years. I’ve always been drawn to the word freedom and Libertarians believe that being free and independent is a great way to live.

In the past, freedom has taken different forms for me. At sixteen a driver’s license was the freedom to go to the skating rink without parental supervision. My first car meant the freedom to travel. My first apartment gave me the freedom to choose what I would to eat, when I would go to bed, and even how I would arrange the furniture.

What sets you apart as a candidate in terms of experience?
I have been a business manager for over 20 years. Although I have never held a political office, I have served on several boards and have been a delegate to State and National political conventions for more than 25 years. As a novelist, I wrote a trilogy that explores various political philosophies and when each might serve mankind best.

Immigration

In Central America, the War on Drugs cost an average of 40 lives a day! 40. Every day. This is part of the reason we have so many people flooding our borders. I advocate ending the War on Drugs. It’s a health issue – not a criminal issue.

Our immigration laws are poorly, if not unfairly, written and poorly enforced. The group of people most damaged by illegal immigrants are the 2nd and 3rd generation Latinos and those immigrants who have worked within the laws to become US citizens.

Voter Suppression

All record keeping requires purging of inaccurate or dead files. People move everyday. Registering to vote should be as important to you as forwarding your mail. It’s up to the US citizen to take advantage of his right to vote. And yes, you should be a citizen of the US. I would never try to vote in England or France, even if I was working in that country, because it’s not my country.

A Lifelong Coloradan

I’m a native of Denver, born in 1956, when there were still open fields between Denver and Lakewood. I grew up near 1st and Federal attending Barnum Elementary School and Rishel Jr High. I owned a home in the 5 Points neighborhood from 1984 until 1998 when I bought my current home in the Travois neighborhood, in unincorporated Arapahoe County. Although I grew up in the city, as child I spent many of my summers working on my grandparents farm.
